Halloween Tips for Braces Wearers

Spooky Kid Halloween is one of the most fun holidays of the year! You get to wear costumes and get free candy! What’s not to love?! While it’s fun, you have to remember, it’s one of the LEAST FUN times for your braces!

Here are a few tips you can use to avoid breaking appliances and keep your teeth healthy!  Remember, broken appliances equals longer treatment time!

1) Go through your candy — After you get home from Trick or Treating, sort through all of your candy and pick out all of the chewy, nutty, and sticky Halloween candy. Give those to your NON braces wearing friends. If you eat them, you might damage your braces!

2) Stay Away From the Apples! — We know, bobbing for apples is sort of a must-do tradition during Halloween time but please for the love of your braces, do NOT bob for apples. Biting on something that hard will most definitely pop a bracket.

3) Make Braces Friendly Treats — Easier said than done but try making braces friendly treats this year INSTEAD of candy. Check out this super fun graveyard parfait!

4) Brush & Floss — If you do partake in a few sweet treats this Halloween, make sure you brush and floss your teeth!

Hopefully these tips will help you stay on track with your treatment this weekend. We hope you have a happy and safe Halloween!
